Hermione ran out to the lake. There he as, waiting for her, as always. She ran over to him. He opened his arms, and she melted into his warm embrace.

“I love you.” She whispered.

“Ditto.” He laughed. She let out a slight laugh, and looked up at him.

He lay back. She lay down next to him, and fell contentedly into his embrace as he looped his arms around her. They sat and looked up at the sky. It was a breathtaking sight.

They could see the tips of tall trees towering above them. The sky was a deep navy blue, nearly black. The night was speckled with a thousand different stars, shooting across the galaxy, faster than you can imagine.

Their feet were in the cool lake water, which was reflecting the beautiful scene above them. A soft breeze blew through the area, and Hermione shivered in Draco’s arms.

He pulled her closer, and she snuggled into his warmth. Nobody said a word. It was perfect. Just the two of them, alone. The most beautiful part of the whole thing, besides being with each other, was the moon.

It was a small crescent moon, lingering happily in the air above them. A pale light surrounded it, and it glowed a brilliant white.

They didn’t get very many moments like this. They were like Romeo and Juliet. A forbidden love. But, they really did love each other, and it was moments like this that made them even closer. They had to keep it all a secret.

It was hard to do, and sometimes got a bit overwhelming. Suddenly, Hermione got up. She slowly waded into the cold lake, fully clothed. Draco watched her create ripples in the smooth surface of the water, as the picture that the lake was reflecting shattered. Then, he got up and followed her.

But, after a while, when they were up to their shoulders in water, Hermione stopped moving. She went over to Draco, and wrapped her arms around him. He returned the hug. Then, right as they separated, a shooting star passed over them.

“Make a wish.” She said very softly.

“I wish that we could stay like this forever.”

She knew that she couldn’t make his wish come true, but she would make this the best moment possible. So, soaking wet, up to her shoulders in water, and holding onto Draco, she kissed him. Short and sweet. And that’s how they stayed for a long while.

Holding each other in the light of the moon
